It was a shock for me when the home had provided my mother with a baby doll and she seemed not to understand that it was a doll. It kept her busy all day because the doll would make cry noises and she would rock it and talk to it.

You need to remember that you need to find a way that you feel comfortable with, so you will continue to visit. Keeping company and being with them in the moments that you are with them is often enough. I used to share the same pile of large print pictures over and over again and we would drink something and look at the people in the pictures and call their names and remember the occasions.
